Take care of your body. It’s the only place you have to live
— Jim Rohn

Through all of my life physical fitness has always been a critical key to my health and overall wellbeing. In my youth I was engaged in sports like tennis, soccer, skiing, parkour etc. All of these contributed to making sports and training a part of my life. When I was fifteen I began to lift weights due to a knee injury which lead me to a new journey. Two years of lifting made me tired of performing the same exercises day in and day out…

This got me in to bodyweight training, training with my body is something that has always intrigued me. I grew up watching freerunners, gymnasts and circus artists showing the amazing things you can do with only your body. I began this journey by simply switching weighted exercises for bodyweight exercises like pull ups, dips and sit ups…

I quickly felt that this kind of training lacked the structure and routine that I personally need to progress with my training, and then found my way in to gymnastics strength training. This was exactly what I had been looking for. After reading ‘‘building the gymnastics body’’ by Christopher Sommers I was convinced that this was my all time purpose.. From this time on my training philosophy was changed.

Intrigued by skills like the Manna, Planche & L-sit I began to practice GST or gymnastics strength training and that is what I have been doing for the last five years. I have now switched my focus over to coaching other people and teaching my knowledge to help people get strong, mobile and healthy. This is my MISSION in life!

My name is Sid and i’m the creator and founder of bodyweightmastery! From six years of training, coaching and working within the sport of gymnastics I want to help bring gymnastics to the table for the general public. Through what is called ‘‘gymnastics strength training’’ or ‘‘GST’’ we can make the body strong, flexible, agile, mobile and healthy for a long and prosperous life.
